DCC Workshop: Long-term data storage with RDMS - Using command line and working with the HPC In-Person

In this workshop, you will learn how to use the iRODS-based Research Data Management System (RDMS) via command line interface (CLI) and write basic scripts to automate processes. 

  • How to install iCommands in a Linux OS.
  • How to set up iCommands to work with the RDMS.
  • How to use iCommands for:
    • General file management operations, e.g, move, copy, delete
    • Data transfer operations, e.g., upload, download, synchronization
    • Working with metadata, e.g, create, query
    • Permission Management
  • How to employ the RDMS in HPC jobs.
  • Writing scripts and running jobs in the background

We will also touch upon the possibilities that non-Linux users have if they want to interact with the RDMS from the CLI. 

Prerequisites:

  • You need to bring your own laptop to access the system.
  • During this workshop, the virtual LWP will be used for demonstration. Please check in advance that you can access the virtual system: Here
